The Dilema

The dilema these days in our company board room is simple : We can simply abandon RTL platforms. We could more easily just release you SDK FW like this one we publish now and maybe change a little the GUI like med8ter or AC ryan is doing. We could do even less by releasing you just SDK Firmware updates when RTL will release it. In such case none of your complaints will be directed at us while all of you will be left to communicate your experience to them directly. The decision was made. We will not. We will continue to improve our devices and perfect them as much as it will be made possible . Once RTL is abandoning the development of one of its platforms we are the victims very much as you are. If we could continue develop your old 1283 machines and make you all enjoy 1 level of functionality we would have done it . That comes without question. All our efforts to port the new firmware functionalities to old machines have been vain or became vain because of the RTL lack of support for doing it: this should be very clear.

Some concrete examples :

(1) Adobe Flash was promised and delivered on 1186. Maybe most of you dont even know it. It is hidden and not much discussed. As a matter of fact your music player is built in Flash: Flash 8. Flash-lite version 3. That is as far as RTL CPU can carry it . In the meantime Adobe announced no more updates to Flash and we can do nothing more about it.

(2) Our firmware introduces to you Airplay, Subtitle browser, PHP coding, SQL, Jukbeox navigation’s, better graphical user interface, language optimization, Android optimization, and a 1000 other tweaks and fixes. The Firmware SDK is in many aspects a lot much more primitive and basic in comparisonTto ours. You dont want to believe us?. .. Try the SDK and see with your own eyes. Remember when you do…that this is China. this is “the neighbor’s greener grass”

(3) Community jukebox made by the team of developers of this community required us on the 1283 platform to make for them 22 betas. In 22 firmware in which we followed their exact requests we aimed to meet this community developers requests . 1 months after it was released to you on version 2.4 it was abandoned by them due to the overwhelming amount of poison some un grateful members of this community where able to generate.

6 months of expensive RD effort in our side went down to the drain. Does this jukebox work? Yes, it does, with some bugs and limited functionality . But it does. Way better than NMJ version 1 which was published by PCH for a product they charged the market for 320 euro – their c-200. Can it be developed more now? Yes, it can be and it should be as the sources are all open and ready for everyone. Just do it and we will help.

(4) Xtreamer Live project. 2 years ago a brillant member of this community called CAP joined the forums. He is a coder and enthusiasts who started to aggregate many HTTP links and made of it the xtreamer live project. Most of you enjoy it even today. We worked with him on this project. The project was copied with no credit to all chinese competitor products. Once he saw he is nearly alone in the effort of keeping it alive while being constantly subjected to poisonous trolls activity he left. And now only Daniel Dsapac and Repoman try in their way keep it alive. Can your “old” 1283/1185 devices be enhanced further with this project? YES it can. Should this community do it? YES it should. It is an exciting way to extend the basic functionally of the device.

(5) Xtreamer VOD. 1 year ago a guy from spain came foreward with his friend and published on the spanish forums of xtreamer an exciting project who enabled streaming from Megaupload. With our help and close guidance he published the XVOD project. Again, no one could care less for poor maicros. And he left. Same questions we have raised above apply here also.

(6) “Xtreamer fails to keep their promises” and ongoing mantra some of you tend recently to apply . We did promise version 3 with new SDK Casablanca for all our products. We made a mistake by relying on RTL courtesy to honor its old customers. We made the mistake of relying on their ability to meet the market need on time with a ready to use platform and had to upgrade your HW on our expense 3 times . We suffered delays and when we got it few months before it was ready we could not agree to what we saw. Now you have 10 time more advanced SDK FW to imagine how primitive the SDK was without android and DVB-t. This delay cost us to send on our expense to all European customer the devices from inside Europe. Saving each of you around 100 euro of taxes and trouble. But who remembers? ! It happened in ancient times….2 month ago.

Ich habe das Gerät bei einer früheren Aktion hier bei Ibood erstanden und würde es heute wohl nicht mehr kaufen.

In aller erster Linie nervt der schlechte Support der Hersteller. Die haben nur Augen für Ihre aktuellen Produkte und supporten nur halbherzig Ihre alten Geräte.

Und was ist das hier für eine Produktbeschreibung. “Die Benutzeroberfläche des Hybrid in HD-Qualität wird euch beeindrucken. . . .Navigiert durch die gestochen scharfen und animierten HD-Menüs”. Wo ist den da was animiert. Die Bedienung ist träge. Viele funktionen funktionieren nicht wie versprochen. Auf der Herstellerseite steht auch nur IOS4 Support. Wer hat den schon sein Gerät nicht auf den aktuellen Stand von IOS5 gebracht.

“Megavideo based online streaming”… Das sagt schon alles… Es werden viele funktionen angeboten, die einfach nicht mehr gehen, oder nur sehr schlecht. Gab es bei Megavideo auch legale Filme? Ich habe den Service nie genutzt. Aber damit noch zu werben wo es gerade vom FBI geschlossen wurde, naja.

Das hier nicht mit Airplay geworben wird, begrüße ich. Das hat das Gerät nie wirklich sauber beherrscht.

Leider schmeist Xtreamer gute Hardware auf den Markt und vergisst eine ausgereift Software mit anzubieten. Die Arbeit bleibt an der Community hängen und die wird nicht richtig mit Firmwareupdate untestützt.

Vielleicht hat ja jemand eine andere Meinung der das Gerät besitzt, würde diese gerne hören.
